Fourth-graders have begun preparing for the PYP exhibition. This year, the study's central theme is "SOLUTION." Why is this important? Because in today's world, simply possessing knowledge is not enough. It's important to apply this knowledge to find a way out of difficult situations, make informed choices, and take responsibility for them.
This week, fourth-graders took a fascinating dive into Almaty's past. They explored how people in different eras found solutions to difficult situations and made decisions that reshaped the city. Where, if not in a museum, can you see the results of these decisions firsthand? The students traveled from ancient settlements to a modern metropolis. Of particular interest were:
- Architectural Solutions: How houses in Verny changed after earthquakes and why certain materials were chosen.
- Everyday Life and Innovation: КWhat devices did our ancestors invent to adapt to life in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau?
- ЭEcology and Water: The children learned about the creation of the famous irrigation ditch system—an ingenious engineering solution for irrigating and cooling the city.
After visiting the museum, the children concluded that every building in our city is someone's response to the challenges of the times. Perhaps the findings and ideas generated during this tour will be featured at the final exhibition, "Marathon of Solutions," which will take place in mid-April.
