The problem of homeless animals is a chronic disease in our society that cannot be cured overnight. It requires compassion, systemic reform, and the personal involvement of every one of us. We are responsible for the animals we have tamed, and this responsibility must be expressed in concrete actions.
In the first week of December, Yuliana Astratyan, a Grade 4A student and participant in the "Research Academy," organized a competition for the best essay on the topic "Helping Homeless Animals" among third- and fourth-grade students. Yuliana met with the students and explained the purpose of her research and the problem of homeless animals. The students learned the terms and evaluation criteria for the competition.
Seventeen essays were submitted. The children's works reflected their thoughts on why animals become homeless and how they can be helped. Yuliana and the students of Class 4A reviewed all the competition entries and determined the winners:
- 1st place - Sofia Novikova, Class 3A;
- 2nd place - Alana Akpeisova, Class 4B;
- 3rd place - Mark Smagulov, Class 3B.
The winners were awarded soft toys, and all participants received incentive prizes – stickers with pets.
The students' touching works, kind intentions, and compassion for animals reminded us all of the importance of empathy and responsibility for the animals we have tamed.
